This harvest season don’t forget to take care of the most important thing – yourself.

Taking care of yourself during this busy time can come in several forms, make these five wellness tips your priority.

Tend to YOUR needs

Stay well rested.

Late nights in the field or helping others cuts into important sleep time, according to the National Sleep Foundation, healthy adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night.

Keep hydrated.

Drink your water! Staying hydrated improves cognition, joint function, and mood.

Eat well balanced meals.

It may be easy to skip meals or grab what is convenient when busy, but a balanced diet supplies the nutrients your body needs to work effectively throughout the day keeping you less prone to fatigue and low performance.

Listen to your body, rest if you are feeling sick.

No one knows how precious time can be than those in the ag industry, but rest is vital for better mental health, increased concentration, and reduced stress.

Limit sun exposure.

UV rays are the strongest between 10 am and 4 pm, a large part of the day spent on the farm or in the field. Don’t forget to protect yourself by wearing a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 and cover as much skin as possible according to the American Cancer Society.
